The Lion Monument shows a dying lion, carved straight into a sandstone cliff.

At first glance the scene feels calm — but look closer and you see the pain in the lion's face. A broken spear is lodged in its side, and its body is slowly giving way.

Even now, the lion still shields a coat of arms. That small detail says everything: loyalty that holds, even in defeat.

The sculpture doesn't celebrate victory. It captures a moment of loss — and a quiet kind of dignity.

That is what makes it so powerful. It feels human, even though it is a lion.
